Auto Racing News Briefs

-- The Indy Racing League continues to look at new engine suppliers for its IndyCar series teams. League officials were in Germany recently talking to Audi.

-- The IndyCar event at Detroit’s Belle Isle has been dropped from the 2009 schedule because it has been unable to find a sponsor.

-- NASCAR's Jeff Gordon competed in the “International Challenge of the Stars” karting event in Brazil — and failed to finish because of mechanical problems. The charity event, organized by Ferrari Formula One driver Felipe Massa, also featured top drivers such as Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello.
